Hello - I am at the back and neck shaping step for the Baby Bear Bonnet pattern. After completing all the short rows I should have 3 stitches left on each needle however I have 2 on each. My total number of stitches is correct but the side stitches are unevenly distributed. Can this be fixed without frogging?
Thank you!
Somewhere the count went off but it looks quite nice. Sure you can move a stitch from the center section to each end. The neatest way would be to tink back on the last row and make the shift in the last short row. Alterantively you could add an increase between the two sts at the ends. No one will ever know it isn’t part of the pattern. It looks like the stitch number may be about to increase for the ears anyway.
Really, every baby needs one of these bonnets!

Thank you for replying! Sorry what do you mean by shift in the last row?
If you go back one row (plus the next 2sts) you could undo the last stitch and move it to the unworked sts. That way you would have 3sts on one end. Reknit across the row and stop when there are 3sts remaining on the left needle. That way you end with 3sts on each end which are outside the short rows.
All in all, it seems that just putting in the increase at each edge on the next row is the easiest solution. Are the increases for the ears in the next directions?
Thank you for clarifying! I may give it a try.
The next step is knitting the neckline which involves picking up stitches on the right side , knit across the centre (the photo shown above) then picking up stitches the left side. So perhaps I could just continue as is since I have the right number of total stitches?
Yes, that’s a good solution. A one stitch missing each side doesn’t sound like much of a difference. Good luck with it and please let us see a photo when you finish!
