Colinette jitterbug (et al) yardage help

hi!

i have a question regarding Colinette Jitterbug and also the lovely Mountain Colors Bearfoot while I’m at it…

Jitterbug has approximately 310 yards, while the Bearfoot has 350 per skein. Colinette promises you will get a pair of socks out of one hank with the stipulations you follow their label pattern exactly and you don’t wear larger than a UK 7 women’s.

I have big man feet… I am wondering if I could maybe get anklets out of 1 hank of these do you think? I know I could split up the hanks and weigh them and do a toe up and just knit until I’m out, but I’m afraid I will wind up with not close to enough and frankly I am not willing to buy 2 hanks… I am willing, however, to do toe, heel, and cuff in a contrasting color… should I go with it or not? Any ideas?

Thanks!

I say do toe, heel, cuff in contrasting.

I bought 2 hanks of Jitterbug because I was unsure of the 310 yards being enough for 1 pair also. I haven’t made socks out of it yet but if there are leftovers, I plan to measure it.

thanks so much for your response and sorry it’s taken me so long to reply! i have been without internet ACK! i picked out a GORGEOUS violet-ish blue Gems Fingering to go with the Jitterbug for the heel and toe, so I will give it a whirl! i think i will also do the postal scale thing so i know for future reference, as well. i don’t love long-legged socks anyway, so think it should work! thanks again!

yay! Gems fingering is perfect for the Jitterbug! I can’t wait to see your pics!
