CO in the middle of a project

Does anyone know of any good youtube videos about how to CO in the middle of a project? The mittens I’m making require this at the thumb gusset. I’m on mitten #2 'cause somehow I was able to “fake” the CO in the first one and later cover it up but picking up stitches underneath it so the mess didn’t show. (Does that make sense??) I’d love to be able to do it properly though!

When I CO at the beginning, I do the two-strand method. So it’s confusing to CO using only one strand AND try to get it tight at the beginning so it’s a smooth join. Here’s the pattern. I’m stuck at the “CO 6 sts” part under “Make hand.”

Look at the Castons page and you can use the knit or cable CO, some people use the backward loop. You can do the loop on the R needle, for the other 2 you switch the R needle to the L hand, do the cast on, then move it back to the R hand to continue on.

Perfect - thank you! Next time I’ll check the videos out here first.
