CO for socks - for a 2 year old

Hi

I want to knit for my little niece of 2 years a comfy and warm pair of socks. But the problem is that she lives abroad …
I already have a pattern in mind but not written anywhere, I also have the length of her foot, but…
I don’t know how many stitch to CO for the leg part…what is the average CO for a sock for a 2 year old??

Many thanks
Natx

It depends on the yarn and needle size you are using. A worsted weight yarn would be less stitches, sock yarn would be more. Let us know that and we might be able to help more.

Here’s a bunch of patterns that might help.

Hello Jan

Thanks for geting back to me. You are right I should have mentionned the yarn size and needle, I was in a rush when I asked the question…
I am using 2.75 mm needles, yarn is sock yarn (4 ply)

Thank you for your help on this

Well, I wouldn’t worry about the size too much. They will hit a growth spurt and their feet will grow. So if I were you, I would make them a little big so they can wear them as long as possible. (A.L.A.P)
Good luck! :grphug:
