what is your favourite cast off for ribbing (specifically k2 p2)

I just cast off in pattern.

Well, you do it the same way the pattern was.

For 2x2 ribbing:

That means you knit one, knit one, lift one over the other, purl one, lift one over other, purl one, lift it over, knit one, lift one over, knit one, lift one over, purl one,… and so on.

I like Elizabeth Zimmermann’s sewn bind off. I usually cast on with long tail and this bind off is stretchy and looks pretty close to the same. Here’s a video on you tube

I like to do a Russian Bind off w/ a crochet hook in pattern.

If I do a conventional bind off on ribbing it’s always too tight.
