i have a book with patterns and all of it is in centimeters instead of inches. where or how can i find out the inches for these helpppppppppppppp thanks
:??
Here you go…
do you know if there is a book on cm and inches? looking it up can be a pain. thank you for all your help also its not accurate right?
Do you have a tape measure with your knitting stuff? That’s what I usually use. I’m used to centimeters and inches, living in Canada does that to you, I guess!
isn’t there a book out there with cm and inches?
I’m not sure what you mean by a book, you can figure it out by hand (or a calculator)
1 inches = 2.54 centimeters
This is how I would do it with out looking it up…
If it says 20 cm then…
1 = 2.54
x 20
so
2.54x = 20
x = 7.874 inches
so basicly divide the # of cm by 2.54…
Don’t know if that helps… I know I’m stragne algrabra made more sense to me than any other math…
What kind of book are you looking for?
oh my goodness thanks for the info on the cm but if i had to do all that math i would have to go back to school. lolololol
i didn’t know if there was a book out there for metric etc. but that is ok i have been finding things online. thank you all for all your help maggie:)
A lot of tape measures now have inches on one side and cm plus inches on the other, so you’d be able to see exactly what’s what. Take a look for them.
Rulers also have multiple units marked. Dictionaries often have lists of conversions at the back. Here’s a thought - why not use a ruler or tape measure with centimetres marked and just measure as specified: If the book says 5 cm, just use the measure to see if you have 5 cm, rather than spending a lot of time and effort working out that 5 divided by 2.5 = 2?
You’d still have to look it up if you had a book right? It’s easier to remember that 1 inch = 2.5 cm and vv. If you struggle with maths, just remember that for every 10 cm = 4 inches. So calculate to the nearest 10 cm/4 inches, then work out how many inches for the last >10 cm - that’s how I do it.
