I like those red ones with the flowers, but wouldn’t all that novelty yarn hanging off the edges get yucky after a while?

Does anyone know if that’s legal? I know a lot of patterns have restrictions on the use (i.e. for personal use, you have to purchase a license to sell items you make with it) and I’d be curious to know what the Fiber Trends policy is. :??

I looked at the completed sales and that seller has only sold yarn in the last 30 days.

$88 for clogs - I’m sorry, but it’s too funny.

That’s hilarious!! It would cost me $96.20 to have them shipped to me with the insurance added. KellyK could have made a FORTUNE this Christmas if she charged even half that for the ones she made!! :rofling:

Also wondered about the legalities But I have made afghans that I would have sold if I thought I could–and they would have been someone elses pattern. Would that have been illegal? :shock:

Totally depends on the pattern’s author/copyright holder – some state very clearly not to sell, and soem offer licenses (like Little Turtle Knits) if you’d like to sell items you made from their patterns.

I e-mailed Fiber Trends…I will let y’all know what they say!

I agree MissAbi, I think the novelty yarn would get really dirty on the soles.

I didn’t think about it not being legal… :?? I looked on my pattern and it doesn’t say anything relating to selling the items, just has a copyright date, all rights reserved. It will be interesting to find out what FT has to say…

Sheesh, if the seller was using knitpicks yarn, imagine how much the mark-up must be if s/he’s charging 88 bucks a pair!!!

Just got a response!

Thank you for asking. While it is not something we spend a lot of time policing, we do require a royalty agreement with anyone who wishes to sell items made from our patterns. The fees are tiny (.50 to 1.50 per item), but we need to ask this to establish our terms in case a company ever tried to market one of our designs in mass.
For charity sales and /or 2 or 3 items sold to friends, we always just give permission to do so when asked.

Just FYI. I have sold a few handknit items on Ebay. If you do it right, you can make some money. I sold a capelet a few months ago for $40. But more recently my items haven’t sold. Perhaps it is a seasonal thing. :slight_smile:

$0.50 to $1.50 is pretty good. I mean, you could legally do it and still make tons of money, even if you sold for a REASONABLE price (I mean, not $88!).

Well one auction ended and they didn’t sell. [sarcastic emoticon] :shock: [/sarcastic emoticon]
