Clog help already

so are these clogs running big or small ? I have a size 6 & a half or 7 sizes to pick from are 6 or 8 help

I think they run a little big.

Personally I’d make them the bigger size because you can always felt them more…but if they start out on the small side, you risk reaching the right size via felting before you get the look you want. But then again, I’m pretty picky about losing the stitch definition! :wink:

I wear a 7 1/2. I made the 8’s for myself and the 6’s for my sister. Hers fit me better. It’s possible that I could have felted mine more, because you can still see the stitches a bit, but they didn’t seem to want to get any smaller.

so Ingrid did you use the needle size 13 they said to use?

Yes–I used the 13 needle (actually had to go out a buy one :shock:). With regular knitted items, I tend to use a bigger sized needle, but I just knit the clogs with the specified size. I don’t think I checked gauge at all.

my gauge is off so I’m thinking of going up a size to 15.do you think that will make a difference ? I did my gauge flat though

If you go with the 15’s, then definitely make the smaller size. I’m not sure that there would be a gauge difference with flat vs. round with these, since there is so much short row shaping, you do knit and purl rather than just knit as you would in regular circular pieces.

Thanks again Ingrid :happydance: :happydance: I can hardly wait to start these :smiley: If I have anymore ? I’ll post on knit-a-long

I found that I liked the way the bigger sizes felted down to smaller sizes. It’s much firmer! I used Lamb’s Pride Worsted double stranded, but the next pair I’m going to make will be using Lamb’s Pride Bulky single stranded. Someone from my knitting group uses Bulky and she says it works really well, so I’m willing to give it a try (besides, I bought seconds really cheap at the Brown Sheep Mill!)

:shock: :?? :shock: :?? :shock: You mean that there’s a size of needle that Ingy didn’t have??? <falls over> :roflhard:

That’s like me not having the right size of crochet hook! :rollseyes: :roflhard: {btw: I have from 0.60 mm up to something like 15 mm}
