Cloche hat, anyone?

I’m looking for a pattern for a cloche hat - flapper style, similar to this or Marnie’s Erte Cloche. Only, I want to make one for DD (she’ll be one next week - eek!)

I’ve searched and searched, and I think I like Cirilia’s the best. My question: If this is knit in the round (and I’d want it in the rounds to avoid seams), how do I keep the brim from rolling in?

I was thinking about doing a few inches in stockinette, then joining and doing a garter stitch…maybe switch to smaller needles? Then, the ribbon can go where I changed stitches. Does anyone have a better suggestion? Or, a pattern that google wasn’t able to find?

thanks,
~Sharon

Since the brims in the pictures are not rolling at all, I’d think the pattern accounts for that. The one picture actually looks like the brim might have been doubled and folded up. Not positive, because of the yarn, but it doesn’t look like a cast on edge.

You know, now that I look at it again, I think you’re right, Ingy.
Wouldn’t it look bulky, though? If I knit a few inches extra and folded it under…hmm…looks like I may be swatching this first to see how it works.

thanks!

This is for a “bucket” hat, but it looks sorta cloche-like to me, it just doesn’t have that accent band on it. It’s formula based, so you can enter your measurements for the size.
