Cleo Tank from Knitty.com

Has anyone here knit the Cleo tank from Knitty.com. Here is the link.

I am wondering how difficult it is and if you used the yarn it called for or something else. Thanks!

Mod Squad was here!

I have NOT made it, because I don’t think that it looks very flattering on the model’s above average (un-supported) breasts. The model is obviously not a plus-sized woman, either, so I can’t imagine how it would look on me  Maybe someone a little more… uhh… perky has made it

:cheering: :happydance: :balloons: IM PERKY!!! :balloons: :happydance: :cheering:

(oh…maybe you didnt mean “perky” that way. )

KK you are too cute! I’m a little smaller on top so I thought I would give it a try. I have a weird self image. I love the top and have the image it would look great… then I make it, try it on and see reality setting in. :roflhard:

well, i say go for it then!

And when you wear it, you should always be squatting, like the girl in the pattern pic.

and looking wistfully over your right sholder while clutching your buttocks

dang, KK we should have posed like that in our butterfly pics.

Well, the BUTTOCK CLUTCHING is a GIVEN!! :rofling:

sprry to hijack your thread WFY!!! it was KK’s fault.

UH UH! We aren’t hijacking! We’re right on topic! The CLEO tank! (And associated buttock clutching) :shifty:

Hmmm, I’m axious just to finish that tank in the next few months (yes, I am a sllooowww knitter) and then to be able to clutch my buttocks for a picture! wooo hooo :happydance:

Let us know how it turns out, Sara. I’ve thought I’d like to try it when I get a tad more experience. NOT for my well endowed, not so perky, self; but for my daughter who’s petite and would like nice in it.

hehe, I started doing it but got to fustrated. So I modified it a lot and took out all the lace and such. I liked the shape of Cleo and I loved the backless halter so I just did it that way  or rather AM doing it that way… I am still working in it :XX:

Nik, please send a picture when you are done, and how you modified it. I would love to see another version of it. I love the look too, but am afraid I will also get frustrated. Grrr. Have not found the yarn to start it yet. What are you using? I could not find the yarn it called for.

Funny story on the yarn I am using. I bought some Camilla Valley Farm yarn for it. I decided to start a “mock” top with come Sugar & Cream so I wouldn’t waste the good stuff… but I just decided to use it instead. I get annoyed at using 2 strands at once

Hey Nik… did you finish the Cleo top? I just started it and while it seems to be going ok, why the heck does she want you to knit it on a circular when you don’t join it? I don’t get that. I’m doing it but I don’t get it.

Did you finish it? Would love to see a picture…

cheers,

I’m just about finished the shapely tank top from white lies designs and I’ve done the whole thing in sugar 'n cream and I love it! It cost me about $1.99/ball and took about 5-6 balls so that’s a pretty cheap project if you ask me!!

:cheering:

Hi Knitqueen, wondering what that pattern looks like?

White lies designs?

I’m using Bernat Cottontots coz it was laying around. It’s a little tough going with the 2 strands which I also hate (they keep twisting all the time so you have to stop and untwist yuk)

but I figured I would just do 2 strands for the top for coverage! and then do the bottom part with one strand for being cool in hot weather. I think  it will look ok but maybe I’ll be rippin’.

HERE is the pattern for the shapely tank top. It is very basic, but with quite a lot of shaping. Short rows at bust and at the bottom, as well as lots of decreases to shape the waistline. I’m just doing the finishing, adding the garter stitch edge around neckline and armholes, then sew it up and it will be done. I have been thrilled with this pattern. It is very concise and easy to follow.
