that end from my cowl has come undone again grr. and a few from blanket. Grrrr I need another knitting lesson, clearly
This is how I generally do it, but at the end I take the needle and kind of go diagonally and splitting through a few of the stitches.

Some yarns can be a problem though. You can weave as the links show, but then take a needle and thread and tack down the end.
OUCH! I hate that for you.
I weave in on the wrong side, like on the tech knitting site, then go back in the reverse direction by splitting the yarn bumps just above or below the woven in stitches in the same line. Darn near invisible, and have yet to have it come loose, even on baby clothes! Kids are the true destruction test, IMO.
Yep, always do it on the wrong side. I’ve also never had it come loose.
I go vertically up about 5-6 sts and then reverse and come back on another column of sts. Sometimes, for a very silky yarn, I even reverse again and weave in the end on a third column. You might try tacking down the end with a needle and thread or maybe a very small dot of Fray Check.
I have trouble with ends too. Very frustrating. All you people who say your ends never come loose, UGH!!! :hair: You must be knitting gods! :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:
I’m not a knitting god by any means but my ends haven’t given me real trouble. I tend to weave in a lot longer tail than is necessary because if it does come loose I want there to be enough of it to work with so I can try to put it back. I’ve not had to yet with knitting but as sure as I decide it isn’t needed, I’ll need it and it won’t be there. I did do a lot of ends for crochet before I ever learned to knit, maybe that’s why my knitting ends haven’t been much problem. I’d been there, done that with crochet and knitted ends seem easier.
Yep. I use a longer tail and weave in longer as well.
When I cut the tail after weaving in the ends, I don’t cut close to the knit fabric. I leave about a half inch of tail sitting on the WS. This wouldn’t get me first prize at the county fair, but it makes it harder to the end to poke out to the RS.
