Circular vs dpn for socks

If a pattern for a sock calls for dpn can it be worked on circulars instead? I am more familiar with the circs and want to make my first pair of socks.

TIA for help.

Laura

It can be worked on circs either by the magic loop method or by using 2 circs. Amy has a video.

Sure you can make those socks. Basically what you should do is when it tells you to divide the stitches between the needles just divide the stitches evenly between your two circulars. When you work the heel it makes it extra easy because you already have it divided in half.

After the heel when you pick up the stitches your stitches may not be evenly centered between the front and the back of the sock on your two needles. Don’t fret. Merely slip the stitches from one needle to the other until you get them even. A bit of counting and figuring how many stitches to slip goes a long way right now. You don’t have to divide the stitches evenly between the two needles at this point of course but it makes it easier to manage the decreases appropriately.

If you have any questions or get stuck interpreting the pattern for 2 circs just let me know.

I just made my first sock ever on 2 circs using a dpn pattern.
