I’ve never used circular needles before and I am knitting hats. How do you follow on after row 1? I don’t get it. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hello
Depending what attern you are using, your pattern may or may not instruct you on how to koin in the round. If not here’s one way, cast in 1 extra stitch, this is detailed at the beginning of the video, then use that stitch to make a bind off to join the 2 ends
It makes sense when you watch it.
Hope this helps.
Thank you. So once I have cast on and knit first row do I just keep going for second row?
Once you join un the round you will continue around, yes.
Do you have e a pattern you’re following?
Am I correct that you’re knitting in the round? Circular needles can also be used to knit flat. After the cast on did you turn and knit the first row? If you did then when you get to the end of the row, arrange the stitches so the next one knit is joining in the round - don’t turn, just knit the first stitch of the previous row and your work will then be joined for in the round. Clear as mud? The yarn tail can be used to close any gaps that you might have when joining for itr.
Just be sure and put a stitch marker between the last and first stitch so you can keep track of the beginning of a new row.
I like 16” circulars for hats :).
