Christmas stocking short row heel shaping

Hi! I’ve been knitting Wool and the Gang’s Rockin’ Stocking but I’m really stuck on the shaping of the heel.

I’m halfway through shaping the heel and I’ve gotten to step 14 which says:
‘Purl 5 stitches, pick up the next stitch and the wrapped loop, purl them together and turn’

I’ve watched video tutorials on how to do this but each time I turn my work the working yarn isn’t where I need it to be to continue. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong😭

After you purl the wrap and stitch together, the yarn strand is facing you and coming off the right hand needle. When you turn the yarn strand will be at the back (facing away from you) and coming off the left hand needle. Pick up the strand as you would at the beginning of a row and follow the next instruction, maybe to knit across some sts.
