Can any baby blanket be considered a Christening blanket? Is there a difference? I’m looking for a simple lacy baby blanket that could be a Christening blanket as well.
Christening Blanket
Call me stupid, but I didn’t know there was anything that designated a Christening blanket from a regular one…other than that a Christening blanket was probably done in white. I think any lacy pattern done in white would be perfectly fine, but maybe someone else knows more about this than me.

Not Stupid! That’s what I’m asking …as long as it’s white and preferrably lacy, can it be called a Christening blanket? I have seen the term “Christening blanket”, but didn’t know if it was different or not. Since my daughter married into a Catholic family, she will be having her baby Christened, and I would love to make a blanket.

I would say if that’s what you want it to be, that’s what it shall be…heck, if we don’t know the difference, why should they? :teehee:
Seriously, though, white and lacy seems to fit the Christening blanket requirements perfectly…especially when you consider all the love that is also mixed in with every stitch!!!
