Chiaogoo cables for 5" tips

Please can you tell me what size chiaogoo cable l would need to knit the 1898 hat and the stockinette hooded cowl by Irisca Fairytale using 100% wool Aran and 5"" tips. My son needs both asap as it’s cold here and hes a welder. Thank you

The 1898 hat is a good one for warmth and comfort. I’ve loved making these myself.

I would use a 16" circular measured tip to tip. For Chaiogoo maybe the 8" cable with the two 5"tips making it about 18" tip to tip. You’d then have to use dpns to form the decreases that shape the crown.
Alternatively you could use 30" cable and work magic loop. Then you wouldn’t need to change to dpns.

For the Hooded cowl probably the 22" cable will work. Something that would give you about 24" tip to tip would be probably be better
Both hat and hood are very good ideas to keep your son warm at work.

Thank you for this great advice, lm going to sort my needles and cables now.

Just think of your circular needles as double pointed needles. Because they are flexible you can knit in the round using two circular needles.
