Charts

I’m knitting the Ptarmigan cowl pattern by Jered Flood for Brooklyn Tweed following the “A” chart. I’m going full speed ahead until row 11. There is a space that does not have a code. It looks as though it might be some kind of decrease, but I don’t have a corresponding code. This continues to row 32 and there are several of these through out chart A. Does anyone know what I should be doing?

Here’s a link…about 2/3 of the way down there is info about a blank stitch. Maybe that’s what it is?

When you have decreases on a chart, very often there is a blank box that you ignore. It’s just left there to keep the chart lined up.

Okay - thanks! I think I’ve got it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!:cheering:

Ptarmigan cowl pattern: what did you figure out about row 11 - I have ‘hit’ the same issue…haven’t worked with charts and not sure what to do with the ‘blank’ square…knit it, ignore it? have tried both and don’t come out right…

If you knit 2 together in the previous row, the chart has no way to indicate that a st has been decreased except to put in a blank square. In fact there is no st there so just ignore that block on the chart. Go on to the next block and it will work out.
