Charting a pattern

What software/Microsoft option do you recommend to chart an intarsia pattern? a cable pattern?

I would think excel for something large.

If inserting a small pattern into a mostly written set of instrcutions you could create a tabel with the required number of cells and adjust size.

This site has some great tips, from a link to knitting graph paper to a free program for charting pictures.

Have you seen the free website knittingpatterns.is
It uses Microsoft Silverlight that the say is platform indipendent.
It should work on Mac an PC.
