I’m working on a shawl and there’s a symbol there that’s not noted in the key/ legend of the pattern (not that I can see it anywhere). I’m wondering if anyone has ever come across it and what it means.
So picture a chart with all the individual squares either empty or with a dot or whatever in it to indicate knit or purl or whatever… this one is like two squares joined together without a middle bar in the middle so instead of looking like two squares together with a middle piece it looks like a rectangle. Now close to the middle bottom of this rectangle are two dashes - not floating in the middle but more to the bottom of the rectangle. Can you picture it? Have anyone seen this before and can you tell me what it means?

Unfortunately, the symbol was not in there… I think I figured it out… I think its supposed to be a double yarn over… only thing the chart didn’t show the full symbol - only the bottom part of it so it looked nothing like what was on the legend. I only figured it out that it could be the double yarn over because that was the only one in the key/legend that had the two squares merged like in the chart.
