Changing knitting methods

Hello everybody, for me it’s the first time I’m visiting this forum.
I’ve liked it and i decided to subscribe.
I have one question.
Here, in italy (I’m Italian), I’ve learned to knit at the age of 14.
I’ve seen the Basic tecniques section; I’ve learned to knit with the English method, that doesn’t let me to knit with circular needles.
In fact, this afternoon, I’ve knitted with Continental method.
It was the first time of my life.
I’ve tried, tried, tried, but it’s so HARD!!!
I don’t know how to coordinate my hands, needles, yarn, I don’t know how to move all.
Thanks for eventuals answers.

P.S.:Is my English good? :smiley:

Why on earth do you think you can’t knit on circs with the English method? I knit English and I knit on circs, and dpns all the time! :thinking:

Hi, Ingrid, thank you for replying.
I’ve stopped my tests about 30 minutes ago.
But I began reworking 5 minutes ago.
Wonderful, I’ve succedeed knitting, now I have to improve purling.
I repeat, It’s the first time of my life.
What does dpns mean?

Double pointed needles. You use 4 or 5 to knit small things, like socks, in the round.

No annoying goes on here!

Stockinette stitch is when all the knit stitches (v’s) are on one side and all the purl stitches (bumps) are on the other. Amy’s videos show all the knitting in stockinette stitch.

If you knit or purl every row, you get garter stitch which has ridges on both sides.
