Changing gauge in patterns questions

Hi.:grinning: I was wondering if this is true which i hope that it isn’t. :slightly_frowning_face:In one of verypink knits videos she says that you cannot change a gauge in patterns such as for hats,mittens,and sweaters?

What Stacy is warning about are the problems involved in changing the gauge on a shaped garment. Her caveats apply to hats that may have patterns other than simple garter or stockinette. If you’re prepared to do the math, you can redesign the project to work at your new gauge.
