Changing colours results in kitting seperating?

Hi,

I’ve recently acquired a book ‘knitted birds by Nicky Fijalkowska’ and am attempting to do a robin. I’ve never worked with multiple colours (apart from full horizontal stripes) and when I’ve had a go the 2 colours are not attaching to one another. So if you imagine blocks of colour in vertical stripes (cream, brown, cream) the columns are separate… apart from at the bottom where stitches were increased.

I’ve looked online for some video solutions but have not managed to get a suitable solution.

You want to ensure you’re twisting the yarns around each other at the color changes. Super simple, but very key step.
