Making a afgan and adding a logo to the center and need to add 2 new colors. The colors will be used on and off during the project so felting is out. Every row I will be using one or more of the colors to make up the logo. (Actually it is a Boxton Red Sox Logo) I am making the afgan up from several squares in blue. In the CENTER of the square with the logo, I will be adding 20 stitches of white and the next row add three more stitches of white to each end of the center line, the next row I will be adding some red etc. so I need to carry all the three colors along while knitting the logo in the square.
Since Joining is out because I need to carry the colors along and I hate to just duplicate stitch because it is an afgan and I don’t want the ends of the yarn to show and the color change takes place in the center of the work, What do you suggest I do to make it as neat as possible. This is for my grandson going off to college so I really want it to look super.
To make it as neat as possible change it to St. Louis Cardinals. lol
Not that I can help, but I would LOVE to see it when you are done! Huge Sox fan here!!
I think we are a little unclear as to what you are doing exactly. It sounds like you may want to use some intarsia technique for this. You can find a video about this in the “View Videos” section of this site under “advanced techniques”. Intarsia will not be invisible on the back but will look pretty good. You may want to use a combination of intarsia and duplicate stitch for the best result. Good luck. If this is no help at all, try posting a picture of the result you are going for or something that will help us understand better, and we’ll try again.
