Changing color of yarn when knitting in the round

Hi! I am knitting a “newborn stocking cap” which has two different colors that are alternated throughout the pattern. I looked online to see how exactly to change the color of yarns and came upon directions for a jogless join method for knitting in the round. Is this the best way to do it? I’m not too fussy about the transition of colors being perfect (I’m sure the baby won’t care) but also don’t want it to look messy.
The directions on the pattern just say "work in st st alternating colors every three rows"
Thanks very much for your help!

Whether you want to bother is up to you. This is the method I use.

Thank you so much for the link to the video. It makes it all very clear now!
