Change yarn color without line

This is a very basic scarf however, because it is a slip stitch when I change the colors both sides have that little sewing looking line. Help

Cast on 56 stitches with MC.
slip stitch pattern:
K1, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in back repeat to the end. Be sure to end with a slip
one purlwise.
Continue in the manner with main color until 38 rows have been completed. (On
each side of the scarf it will look like 19 rows have been completed.)
Switch to CC. You can cut MC or just carry it up on the inside of the tube. Knit in
CC for 38 rows. (On each side of the scarf it will look like 19 rows have been completed.)
Continue in this pattern, alternating MC and CC every 38 rows until desired length
is reached or yarn used up.
Bind off, weave in all loose ends. Attach fringe.

Are you knitting flat or in the round? It says “tube” so that makes me think you’re knitting in the round.

If you are and you don’t want that line of stitches you can knit one plain row with no slips and no purls and the color change will be smooth.

The pattern is apparently supposed to look like that though as part of it’s design. So up to you how you handle it.
