That totally bites… How alergic is he? I was allergic myself, as was most of my family…but we just got a cat anyway and we got used to it… built up a tolerance I guess… but none of us were deathly allergic and as long as the cat didnt sleep on our face we didnt get anything worse than occasional sneezing and red eyes… I know many people are much worse though…
My dad’s allergic to certain cats, but there’s no rhyme or reason to it… my auntie’s two cats set him sneezing straight away, yet our own cat (turned up on the doorstep, wouldn’t leave :teehee: ) doesn’t bother him at all.
Speaking of our own cat, Sid - for some reason or other, he seems to favour pink yarn… and if he gets hold of it, he actually starts eating it until he chokes on it, so I have to be soooo careful if he’s about. Poor creature. :pout:
I have always been allergic to cats, too, but we just have them anyway. I seem to be more allergic to kittens (I think it’s actually the saliva–some cats lick themselves more and kittens are always getting licked by their mother) and shorter haired cats. My kitty is a fluff :flirt: (We should have a kitty emoticon)
i have a lush cat called duder!! he/s super cute and im a little alergic but i think i got used to him. hes very play full and kills all my things even if its not moving so u can imagen my knitting is not safe. but i dont mind. hear look at him hes so cute(this was when he was much younger tho hes not all that bigger…)http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t189/hob029/ when i got him he was just dumped and he didnt even know how to lap up his water. but its ok hes better now.
i have two rescue cats also. my bf is very alergic, so they have the whole basement to themselves. i learned to knit after we moved int ogether, so i dont know how they would react to my knitting, but as they already love to sit as close to me as possible on the couch and are active kitties, i’m sure it would be interesting.
