Casting on thumb method

I’ve tried casting on using the thumb method and my tail end is opposite to the yarn.

Does anyone know of a site maybe with a demo of how to?

If you look at the ‘casting on’ videos, the backward loop is the same as the thumb. The tail would be opposite of the working yarn on that one, since you leave it at the beginning of the cast on.

If you do any single strand cast on, the tail will be left at the beginning.

Long tail uses the tail as part of the cast on, so that travels to the end of the cast on stitches and both are together.
