Casting on at beginning of row

The pattern says to cast on X# of stitches at the beginning of the next two rows. I can understand how to cast on extra stitches at the ends of rows but how do I do them at the beginning of established rows?

You would use the knit or cable cast on, both of which make a better edge than the backward loop which is usually what’s used at the end of the row. Turn your work as if ready to knit the next row, knit into the first st (or between the first 2 sts) and put the new st on the L needle. Repeat. Then you’re ready to work the row with the new sts and old ones.

That’s what I thought but wasn’t sure. I knit continental so sometimes things like this work a bit differently. Thanks!

Nope they shouldn’t be any differnence, continental or english.
