Casting off for shoulders

Hi I’m knitting my first cardigan and I seem to be a bit stuck shaping the shoulders!

This is what my pattern says :

Cont without shaping until armhole meas 8 [10:11:11:12:12:13]cm,
ending with RS facing for next row.
Shape shoulders
Cast off 4 [6:7:8:8:8:9] sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Cast off 4 [7:8:8:9:9:10] sts at beg of next 2 rows.
23 [25:27:29:29:31:31] sts.

I’m now starting to shape the shoulders but I’m confused, do I cast off 4 stitches both at the beginning and the end? I calculated the number of stitches I should have in the end and it should be correct if I cast off 4 and each end but I’m very confused.

Welcome to the forum!
It’s really not practical to cast off at the end of a row. It leaves the working yarn off at the end of the cast off.
Instead, cast off 4sts at the beginning of the right side (RS) row, work to the end of the row, turn and cast off 4sts at the beginning of the wrong side (WS) row.
