Casting back on stitches

I’ve just started the pattern Fulled Lopi Tote by Hello Yarn and I’ve gotten to the point where I need to cast back on the stitches that I’ve binded off for the handles. I’ve got not a clue how to do that. I’ve tried a few times but it just doesn’t look right. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

If i understood the pattern correctly, you knit from top in the round. Then you cast off in two places for the handles hole to be created. In order to continue knitting in the round after creating the handles, when you get to the point where you cast off, you need to cast on new stitches using the backward cast-on (amy has a video) and continue knitting. That way you “close” the hole and get the handles. HTH

You can also use the knitted or cable cast on; sometimes the backward loop leaves too much loose yarn in the place you go back to knitting the old stitches.

Thank you both for you help! :muah:

~KnittingNat~ I tried finding a video for it but can’t seem to find it. Could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks!

All the videos for cast ons are found here http://knittinghelp.com/videos/cast-on

Ok, I finally figured it out and got it. Don’t know why but my brain has not been working since that (very yummy) Thanksgiving dinner.

I did the backward loop cast on and there is no gap and it looks good. Thank you SO much both of you for all the help! It is greatly appreciated.
