I have been trying to cast on and watching the video, using the long tail in lest hand not using a slip not and it seems like it does not come out the correct , if i am going though the steps and it still is not comeing out, what am i not correctly
It would be hard to say what’s wrong without seeing it. You might try the 2 handed version called the ‘thumb’ alternative which is more like knitting it on. I’ve used that one for over 40 years because I could never get the regular one to come out right.
I know it’s possible because that’s the way I do it, but it’s pretty hard what you’re doing wrong since we can’t see what you are doing.
Here’s how I do it - After I’ve figure out how much yarn I need and have the yarn over the thumb and fingers properly I put my needle under the yarn strand and put my right thumb on the yarn to hold it. Then I just do the rest the way you do long tail.
I’ll see if I can find another video or instructions for using no slip knot…
Hi, well, I am learning how to knit, and I found on the main site… free videos… where there is a section for casting on… It helped me. The video is clear, and you see it… just play it over until you get it! Good luck. cair
I put the tail part over the thumb and the other part over index finger and i am following the video on this site, it is after and release and tighten is where the problem comes in, i will keep watching the video but and i am not using a slip not, holding both ends in my hand.
