I cast on my first row as loosely as I dared and it is too tight! the garment is now finished and it really cups at the bottom. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Scissors, cut it. Tweezers, pick it out. Needles, pick up the live stitches. Yarn, knit a row and bind it off.
Very succint, Mike!
Well, maybe you could also try sewing it so it looks even. A whole garment could take a while, but if you do it right, you’ll be a happy one.
I’d get the cast on onto the sewing needle, and start sewing up and down, one stitch at a time. You’d be sewing your cast on.
Huh? How would that fix it?
Hey Camille- I am just over the mountain from you in TN! :clink:
I don’t know of any way of fixing this without snipping the cast-on, unraveling last row or so, putting it back on the needles, knitting down a row and binding off loosely. I know- hard to think about without feeling a little sick!
Welcome!
Simply_Renee - Oooh! You’re doing a Tree of Life Afghan! How far along? Pics when you’re done?
I am only on my 2nd ball of yarn, and I’m almost through the first set of trees. I love this pattern- it’s the reason I felt really inspired to learn to knit!
I don’t think I have ever posted pics here of my FO’s but I will of this one. (in 2015, when I finally finish, LOL)
Thanks everyone for your help. I had found a tip sheet for cutting and unraveling and reknitting the cast on part somewhere else on the internet so I think I will try it since that seems to be the only way to fix it. It’s a little scary to do this to something I just finished, but it is not wearable as it is. Lesson learned!
