Cast on... HELP!

is the knitting-on cast on ok to use for ribbing.if so can you use it both ways: knit 1 , purl 1;and knit 2 , purl 2

Yes you can do it that way. There’s a way to do the long tail CO in ribbing too, but I’m not sure how. You can really use any cast on for ribbing, it probably won’t make too much difference in how it looks.

thank you so much i am starting a scarf and was going to use ribbing but i didin’t want the cast off to mess it all up

You mean cast on…? You would definitely cast off/bind off in ribbing though, it looks so much better.

yeah i mean casting on kind of like you would do a knit stitch but its all on one needle

I thought that’s what you meant. The knit cast on can be kind of loose, so it may not be one you want to start ribbing with, even if you do it as, knit on, purl on, knit on, etc. Just a regular cable or longtail work very well as they’re firm, but will stretch easily when needed. You don’t have to cast on in rib.

well see i already did a cast on of the knitting-on and got it the perfect length and i didnt want to have to undo it but i can if you think it would be best

Oh, I know how to do a long tail CO in ribbing and Sue doesn’t. :woot:

Jack… thppppt! :stuck_out_tongue:

ceb123, if you already have them cast on and they look good to you, then keep 'em.
