Cast On for ribbing

Hi,

I’m casting on for mittens and as I’m going to be doing ribbing I thought I’d try a more flexible cast on method - I usually use the long tail/thumb method but it doesn’t seem to be stretchy enough. I’m having a go at the “Alternate Cable Cast On” from the video which shows k1 p1 in preparation for single rib. Would this work just as well for double rib? (if I cast on k2 p2). :? Or… does anyone have a tried and tested method?

Thanks,
Kath

Here is what I use, just combine the knits and purls. If you need any other help, let me know.

Thank you - that’s great, as it’s a slight variation of what I already do. The instructions look really clear, so I’m off to give it a go…
