Wondered what the best cast of for the neck of a pullover would be? The last one I made was so tight it was unwearable.
Would tubular cast off be a good option? Or do any of you have a better idea.
What stitch/pattern is the neck of the pullover?
The neck is in K1 P1 ribbing.
If your cast off is really tight, you can try casting off with one size larger needle in your right hand. That will force the sts to be a little looser. Alternatively, you can try pulling through just a little more yarn on each knit or purl so that the sts are looser.
BO in ribbing, that’ll be stretchier than a knit only BO; use a needle a size or 2 larger.
You could try a sock bind off. You would knit 1, yo, k1, then pass the first k1 and the yo over the second knit stitch. You have one stitch on your right needle after that. Yo, k1, pass the first stitch and yo over the second k1. Do this all around. This leaves a nice stretchy edge. You’ll need to learn this one if you ever want to make toe up socks. If you’re doing ribbing, you would do this same thing with the yo but keep in pattern. For instance, k1, yo, p1, pass k stitch over the yo and purl.
