I am relatively new to knitting but challenging myself to the Carbeth Cardigan by Kate Davis and I have a question. The pattern calls for carrying two strands of DK weight wool or… Alternatively one strand of chunky weight yarn. How hard is it to carry two strands and will the finished work look better with two stands than one heavier gauge yarn? Or will it look about the same? I guess that’s more than one question but would love feedback on this. I am looking at Miss Babs K2 yarn (old gold) or the DK alternative, Yowsa.
It’s difficult to tell the difference in appearance between 2 strands of a lighter weight and the one strand equivalent. That said, it’s easy enough to work with 2 strands at a time.
I like the look of this cardigan but haven’t knit it yet.

Thanks for weighing in. If there’s no real difference in looks, I think I’ll go with the bulky yarn. Saves me beaucoup dollars as well.
thank you!
