Caron fingerless gloves

I’m trying the fingerless gloves seen here: http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?pid=e06092
I got up to the thumb gusset part without incident, but then things got ugly. It reads:
establish thumb gusset: (RS)Work across to marker; (k1-f/b) twice; pm, work to end in st st- 42 sts; 4 sts in st st for gusset between markers.
Thing is, I have 3 markers on at this point, so which does it mean? Do I k1 f/b before or after I get to the marker? Is pm pass or place marker?
Lots of questions, I know! Thanks for looking~

Hi, I see what you are saying about the markers. If you place all of them that they have indicated you would have 3. They are certainly not very clear about what they mean here but I’m guessing based on the picture, that you want to keep working the moss and cable panel all the way the length of the glove until you get to the final ribbing. And it looks like the thumb gusset is at the edge of the cable and moss panel, like at the beginning of the st st part. So my idea would be to keep working the cable and moss part as you were, and then when you come to the marker that they suggested you place at the beginning of the st st part, that you use that marker as the marker they are talking about here.

So you would work across the 22 sts of the cable and moss, slip the marker there, you are at the first stitch of the stockinette now. Work the kfb into the next 2 stitches to make 4 stitches and then put another marker there. Those 4 stitches will be the beginning of the thumb gusset and you will make further increases within the 2 markers that set those 4 stitches apart. You might like to make them a different color, or just remember they are the ones at the edge of the st st.

pm is place marker, they should have given that in their list of abbreviations since they used it.

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks!! The pattern rating of easy was making me feel kinda stupid that I was so baffled. Yep, this is lots clearer. I will give this a try ASAP, but that’s not to say I won’t be back with more questions later… bahaha…
