Caron Cabled Tunic help

I found this pattern on the Caron website caron.com/projects/ss/ss_cabled_tunic.html (sorry I can’t post links as I’m brand new)

I cast on the project, and every time I get to the first row of the setup, but the pattern isn’t very clear. It says to continue the pattern as established in the setup row, but I’m not sure how to do that with the slipped stitches. The rest of the pattern I’ve figured out how to work, but the slipped stitches are driving me crazy! Am I supposed to slip them on the WS and knit them on RS? I really hope someone can help, I’d really like to quit frogging this sweater, lol.

Also, they don’t specify how to slip the stitches, I’m not sure if I should have the yarn in front or behind the needle.

It looks like you only slip the stitches on that first set-up row.

Slip them as if to purl with the yarn in front.

When you do the first row of the chart, you knit them. I suspect the slipping of those stitches is to help prevent loose stitches when you go from the ribbing to the stockinette background of the pattern.

Hello, I am a new member and I too am having trouble with this pattern. After establishing the pattern on the wrong side and continuing on the right side, I notice that it doesn’t match the photo. I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. What is the established pattern of the right side?

There are beginning sts, then the sts of cable chart A, k p sts, chart B a few sts, chart C, then charts B and A again, with sts between them, and the end sts. Work across each chart on each row. You may need to do several rows of the cable chart before it looks like the picture.
