Hi, I am knitting a tots cardigan in pale blue with a darker blue button band. Need some advice on what colour to use to sew the button band on - pale or dark blue?? Thanks in advance. Jean

What method are you going to use to seam the band onto the cardigan?
Really it’s a matter of personal choice. Either color will work and depending on how you seam, may not even show.
Here’s one video for a mattress stitch seam which is a sturdy seam for a child’s sweater.

If you use mattress stitch, as salmonmac suggested, you won’t see the seaming yarn on the front of the garnpment, so either colour will work.
I think in most methods of seaming you won’t see the seaming thread from the front unless you pull slightly on the seam and look very closely.
A quick swatch is a good way to test out and practise seaming beforehand.
