I started to knit… again. I picked a different pattern than I was going to do, but it is more like the one I wanted to make. Anyway, I am several rows in, and I see that I need to use a smaller needle. For continuity of the pattern, do I need to use the bigger needle for the other sections too before I switch to the smaller one? I am afraid my pieces won’t match- is that realistic, or can I just use the small needle? I think I am going to need a lot of help with this one… I think it is a little beyond my capability.
Cape Update
What pattern did you settle on? Is it online so we can see it? I don’t understand what you’ve worked on the larger needle and what is supposed to use the smaller. Maybe a picture of it and if it’s paid a few lines from the pattern would help. Or maybe someone else will understand.
What I’m thinking is you’ve done the bottom border on the larger needle and now are moving onto the body of the cape. I don’t know if that’s so.
Never mind- I frogged! But I do want to still make it- but it will have to be with a smaller needle, otherwise it will be too loose. https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/68632754/pdf-knitting-pattern-ladies-retro-cape?ref=yr_purchases
Really lovely! It’s worth it in the end to start again and have it correct.
That is a nice cape!
I love that pattern!
It’s going to be gorgeous! And now you’ve learned why patterns say to make a gauge swatch before you actually start knitting a garment. It seems like a waste of time, but can save you a lot of grief and frogging. I hope you’ll show us progress photos!
Nuallan Cape on Ravelry is the cape I made. It resembles your pattern but without the buttons. It’s very easy if you like cables.
