Can someone tell me what these instructions mean for the cap chaping on the sleeve of a sweater?
Dec 1 st each side on next row, then every other row twice more, every 4th row 5 times, every row 4 times.
Thanks so much for your help!

Dec a st at the beg and end of a RS row, then on the next 2 RS rows, then every 4th row (work 3 rows after a dec row then dec on the next, 4th row) 4 times.
If I do it the way you have suggested, that will only decrease the stitches 20, and I need a total of 30 decreased stitches (to end up with 11). Do you think it means every 4th row 5 times? And then I’m still wondering about the “every row 4 times”…
If I do the dec 1 st each side 5 times, and then somewhere do dec 1 st each side 4 rows, that gives me the number of stitches I need to end up with when I bind off. I’m just not sure where the “every row 4 times” decreases are done…most likely the initial decreases before beginning the every 4th row???
You didn’t give us a link to the pattern, or how many sts you were starting with, so going by what you did post, that’s how I interpret it. After the ‘every 4th row 5 times’ then you start the ‘every row 4 times’ (which I missed initially) on the next row.You would be decreasing a total of 24 sts.
Dec 1 st each side on next row, then every other row twice more - that’s 6 sts less
every 4th row 5 times - that’s 10 sts less
every row 4 times - 8 sts less
Got it - the “every row 4 times” makes sense after the 4th row 5 times…
THANKS SO MUCH!!!
