Can't understand pattern

Hi, I’m knitting mittens by Kate Gilbert (www.kategilbert.com) called ‘Gifted’. I don’t understand on page 3 HAND: It reads slip the first 14 sts to your straight needle. Put the loop from the crochet hook on the right needle then k across the rest of the row.
Row 1 P across
Rows 2 8 work evenly in stst. continue as directed for woman. Would that mean for row 2 to k 8 rows then go to WOMAN and start Row 1 etc?

Thank you

I’m no expert, but I think if I was reading the pattern (I took a look at it), I’d probably do what you are saying. Knit 2-8, then move on to whatever size I’m working on. In your case…woman.

Working evenly means working with no increases or decreases. In this case that’s stockinette stitch.

Yes, you complete the knit even part that ends with row 8 then start the directions with row 1 of woman.
