here is the the start on row 5 and where it just do-sent, add up to me , I’ve tried yfwd both times and knitting 2 , not right , any thoughts ? or am I plain thick ??

CAST ON 27 STS

ROW 1 - KNIT
ROW 2 - KNIT
ROW 3 - K2, YFWD, K2TOG, KNIT TO END
ROW 4 - KNIT
ROW 5 - K6, YFWD, K2, YFWD, K2, YFWD, K2, YFWD, K2, YFWD, K2, YFWD, K2, YFWD, K2, YFWD, K2, K5 (35STS

The yarn forward followed by the knit stitches is also called a yarn over. Here’s a video that may help. (There’s a video for continental knitters on the Glossary page too.)
The yarn over will give you a loop over the needle and if you add up all the stitches plus the loops from the yarn overs, it’s 35sts, (27+8 yarn overs).
It should be very similar to the yarn over or yfwd that you did on row 3 but instead of the k2tog you have knit sittiches.

are you sure those k2’s aren’t k2togs?
