When my kids were born, I had what we called kimonos for them. They had sleeves, and were very long…and then there was a draw string below the feet.
I’ve searched the internet high and low, but “Kimono” shows up as a sweater. “Bunting” shows up as a cocoon…and I don’t want to knit my girlfriend that, I want to knit her what I had when my kids were born.
Does anybody know what those were called? It’s making my eyes bleed trying to figure it out! LOL

I believe they were called sacque(sacks). I had use a pattern of cut down to make some for my oldest son when he was born… He was so mall that he could not wear newborn diapers, they had to cut one in half keeping the tab style. Three pounds and seven and a half inches would fit in cabbage patch doll clothes but the dolls were not invented when he was born in the mid 1970’s. I had to make most of his clothes while he was growing up. He is 34 years old now and weighs less than 100 lbs. He wears the same size underwear his nephew wears, and the nephew will be 11 in a few weeks.
