Can't make this work

I have the following pattern that I cannot make work.
Row 1 k1 *wyif sl 1 purlwise; yo rep from * end k1
Row 2 k1 *k next st and yo tog tbl: rep from * end k1
My yo ends up in big loops and that is not what this is supposed to look like. The pattern is called a “slip stitch and yarn over ridges” pattern.

It’s more like a brioche stitch and I wonder if you’re supposed to do a k1 between the yo/sl st combination on Row 1.

Is this just a stitch pattern or part of a item and what’s the exact name of it?
