ssk & pass: slip, slip, knit and return stitch to left needle, pass the next stitch over it and off the needle: then sl the stitch back onto the right hand needle.
No matter how I work at it, I’m missing 2 sts to finish the repeat. I’ve done it about 4 times, worked out the count in my head and on paper, and I think I would need 26 sts to work the repeat, rather than 24.
Check to make sure you’re doing YOs as just a wrap, not a wrap and knit. However, the stitch count uses 26 sts and leaves you with 26. So something’s wrong somewhere and it may not be you… Was there an intentional inc on one of the odd rows?
No increases anywhere, because the odd rows are all p2, k10 repeat 4x, which comes to 48. The troublesome round would leave me with (and needs) 52 sts as is.
I asked the person who wrote the pattern, but she just told me there were 2 decreases and 4 yo’s, which balanced out. If it was just ssk and k2tog, it would work, but she re-iterated that it was ssk&pass, and sl1-k2tog-passo, so that’s not where I’m going wrong (or the pattern is going wrong).
yup -pattern as written uses 26 stitches. I would change the p2 at beginning and end to p1. YOu will need to do this for each of the even numbered “tweety” rows This will allow you to work the rest of the pattern without any further changes.
Oh that would work, in the round you’d have a p2 at the beg/end of round just like in the middle - “…k1, yo, p2, yo, k1,…” It’s possible this was a flat pattern someone converted but didn’t watch the st counts.
I haven’t heard back again from the lady who wrote the pattern, so I’ll go ahead with the p1 at the beginning and end of the repeat. If she gets back to me with something different, I’ll decide whether to keep on with the p1, or change. I’ll let you know!
