Can you move a marker just because you messed up?

:stuck_out_tongue:

I’m having a nightmare getting this project started and finally got it going using an Italian tubular method; however, I can never wrap my head around which kind of stitch to CO first for ribbing and I did it wrong. I REALLY don’t want to do it again (it would be like the 10th time and it’s over 200 sts.) Can I just change the beginning of round by one stitch? I know it’s done in socks and to make lace patterns line up, but wasn’t sure if I could just because. It’s a large cowl in the round. I can’t imagine it mattering, but since it’s so big, I can’t help but wonder if it will cumulatively be bad.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t see why you can’t move your marker one stitch along, or you could (depending on the pattern) adjust the rounds so instead of, say, k1, p1 rep from * you do p1, k1 rep from *.
