I finally brought my Kenobi Jacket in for finishing and it came out absolutely gorgeous, I’m totally thrilled with it except that I didn’t measure the sleeves (no idea why,) just followed the pattern, and they are SO long, like they come far, far past my fingertips… Obviously, I can roll them, but I was wondering if I could maybe cut a few inches off and then do a sort of sewn bind-off at the cast-on edge or is that a no no?
Since there’s ribbing and mixed knits and purls on the cuff you can’t unravel from the cast on. But you can cut a stitch above it, where you want the right length, then take out the sts and bind off.
All the pictures I found on ravelry the sleeves were really long and many had rolled up the cuffs. So it wasn’t just you.
You could run a piece of yarn through a row about where you want the length and then cut. It won’t unravel, you’ll have to pick out the stitches. Then you can put a needle through the live stitches on the yarn and finish it that way. The stitches won’t be lined up exactly, but you can work the cuff from there.
