Can I use this yarn with#6 dpn?

I have bought some Araucania Multi that says it is gauge 6-7 sts = 1" on US #1-3 75% wool 25% nylon I am about through with my first pair of socks using another yarn with the Pure & Simple sock pattern that calls for #6 dpn. I didn’t even think about not being able to use this pattern or these needles. Do I need to buy a different size needles and then do I need to find another sock pattern? I saw one on yarn4socks.com that is a chevron that says its knit and purl. Any answers, I would appreciate.:???: :???: :???:

Check the gauge on the sock pattern. If you use the wrong size it will affect the sock size. Also if you use a size 6 needle when the yarn recommends much smaller you will get a lacy effect. That would be pretty, but probably not good or sturdy for a sock.

It says to use a 6 on the pattern I have, so I need to get some more needles and pattern for this yarn. Thanks for the help. Are chevron socks hard to do, if this is a second pair of socks?

I know the pattern says size 6, but you may have a smaller gauge yarn. That’s what you need to check. If it’s #9728 or 242 both of those are for DK and worsted weight. #216 is written for fingering weight.
