I’m making a throw on straight needles, which the pattern indicates to use, but I was wondering if I could switch to circular needles using the same gauge needle? The project is getting pretty heavy and bulky and I didn’t know if it would really make a difference. The throw is just for me, but I still want it to look nice.
PS…I’m going to Michaels today to buy the Boye Masterset needles…I’m so excited!
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Can I switch needles in the middle of a project?
Hi Beth, I certainly don’t know why you couldn’t switch to circs as long as they’re the same size as your straights. I’ve done it lots of times with no trouble that I could see. Enjoy your new needle set!
I’ve often switched between same-size straights and circs with no trouble (or difference in the knitting).
Just knit to the end of a row, and knit the new row with the circular needle end instead of the straight needle.
